NORD Style 2007
The next big event from NORD is called NORD Style. From the 11th to the 20th of May 2007, NORD will organize and collect different activities that relate to Scandinavian design and lifestyle. The Swedish „Illustratörcentrum“, the graphic designers from the Norwegian agency „Bleed” and the Swedish fashion newcomer „Prime Design” are some of the invited participants. The focus of NORD Style will however lie on a design exhibition entitled „Typical Scandinavian?” - the Scandinavian contribution to the international design festival Designmai held in Berlin during the same period. The exhibition introduces the visitor to new, interesting Scandinavian design, but also treats questions about design identity in general and Scandinavian design in particular.All exhibitions and events that are part of NORD Style give „typical Scandinavian” a wider and more open significance, and show another image than this term usually brings to mind.

NORD is a platform for modern, progressive, new and young culture from the Nordic countries Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. Forget elks and camping, we would like to discuss visions and ideas of the future. We would like to explore tradition and modernity, which unite in the cities of the Scandinavian countries. NORD is a private initiative without public funding, but we also have no reservations about working together with embassies, institutions, universities and companies as well as associations, places of cultural interest and individuals engaged in the cultural sector. We do not want to create culture, rather facilitate its exposure to as many people as possible and bring new aspects to the exchange between Germany and the Scandinavian countries. NORD uses four tools for its mission: In springtime NORD organizes a large Scandinavian culture event in Berlin that puts together different participants and activities under a special theme. Changing topic for each year, „NORD Style” 2007 will be fully dedicated to Scandinavian design and lifestyle. Published just before NORD Style, NORD Magazin is a modern lifestyle magazine about the life of Scandinavian culture in Germany and also a forum for art and design. The NORD Pocket Guide is released in the end of the year and reports on what exciting events are being planned for the following year in Germany and in the Scandinavian countries.
